Why do I have to wax my bow string?

You should wax your bow string often (lots) to maximize its use-by date. Wax minimizes fibre to fibre wear. It also repels rain on wet bowhunts so it’s not absorbed by the bow string and keeps the string compact. Use a length of smooth leather lace. Wrap it twice around the string and rub it up and down after you wax your string to burnish the wax deep into the inner fibres so they are coated to prevent micro-abrasion.
